Library Directors, Assistant Directors, and Systems/Technology staff are invited to join us for the 2007 "I Love Technology" Workshop, sponsored by the Bayouland Library System.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Lafayette Public Library (301 W Congress St, Lafayette, LA 70501). Registration begins at 9. The workshop starts at 9:30 and will end by 3:30. Lunch is included in the cost - which is $15 for Bayouland Members and $20 for non-Bayouland Members.

Games of Love will be our theme this year. The day will feature presentations on how public libraries can stay in the game - keeping up with the new technologies, keeping our existing patrons while attracting patrons who use and expect us to have those technologies, as well as managing issues that come with technology.

Topics include MySpace, blogs, youtube, WorldCat, and how we can use these to our advantage. We also are planning sessions on workstation setups for those with disabilities, audiobooks for new generations, Bookletters, Skype, and more. Lunchtime will feature the Crying Towel competition, where your colleagues will present their computer and technology sob stories.

Registration is limited to 60, with an initial limit of 3 per library. Those of you who are speakers will not need to pay to attend, but will need to register so we can have your meal choice on file.

Please email or fax your form by Friday, February 2nd to reserve your spot. Checks can be sent later or brought to the workshop (indicate as appropriate on the registration form). Please make checks payable to Bayouland Library System. We hope to see you there.

See you on the 14th!
